Cloud Transformation day for ISVs

Xpirit presents a top-notch interactive talk show about Cloud Transformation for ISVs.
10:00 am

Improve your customer satisfaction, profitability and scale by embracing cloud

In this session Marcel will share his vision and learnings on how cloud is enabling ISV's to build a much stronger business and give better profitability by creating a cloud native software company. This session will start with the challenges currently faced by software vendors if it comes to the technology trends currently taking place and disrupting the way software is delivered to and consumed by their customers Next this will be translated to the impact this will have on various aspects of the business, varying from software development itself, but also the organizational and financial impact this will have. This session concludes with ways to transform your organization into a more profitable and scalable company by embracing a cloud native approach to software development, organizational structure and financial models to support this change. After attending this session you will have more insights into the challenges faced by ISV's in the industry and how you can change your organization to become successful in this new age of cloud computing.

Running 30 year old code in the cloud

Docker makes it easy to containerize existing applications and run them on arbitrary machines. Kubernetes takes it to the next level by offering fast and easy container orchestration at runtime. Containerization has been common practice in the Linux world for years, but lately, developers on the Microsoft stack have jumped on the Docker bandwagon too. That is all nice and dandy for .NET Core applications that are easily deployable in Docker on Linux, but what if you have a 30-year-old maritime simulator that has to be cloudified and run as a Software as a Service offering on-demand? In this presentation, we’ll share the journey of our team that led us from hope to desperation to glory in turning on-premise simulators into a full-blown cloud-native service, with some ancient pieces still in there. It surely can be done!

ML Ops workshop: Tensorflow Extended running on Airflow

Key concepts of TensorFlow Extended (TFX) and develop the skills to run TFX workflows on Apache Airflow In this workshop, we’ll dive into TFX, a tool built for consistent and reliable deployment of TensorFlow-based models to production. In practice, this means that TFX allows you to follow MLOps best practices with model versioning, data validation, metadata management, performance monitoring, serving and more. For this session, we’ll explore the key concepts of TFX and teach you how to run TFX workflows on Airflow. Use the orchestration system like Apache Airflow or Kubeflow to execute workflows as directed acyclic graphs (DAGs) of tasks. At the end of this workshop, you will explore the key concepts of TFX and teach you how to run TFX workflows on Airflow, hosted on the cloud. It will demonstrate the end-to-end workflow and steps how to analyze, validate and transform data, train a model, analyze and serve it.

Data Observability with Soda

Get to grips with the latest tools for data engineering and data observability: SODA. We will dive into SODA, a smart observability tool.
3:15 pm

Data Observability with Soda

Many data teams lack tools that detect problems within their data. They fly blind. The result is that data issues remain silent and undetected. Join Maarten (Soda) and Cor (GoDataDriven) to learn about how you are able to detect silent data issues with Soda and why Soda should be part of your modern data platform. They’ll talk about the data quality workflow that enables data practitioners to deliver reliable data products. Data teams need the right solutions to help improve trust, foster a spirit of collaboration, and deliver business value. You’ll learn how Soda removes the fear of not knowing, and the pain of finding out too late that a data issue has had a downstream impact.

Using Terraform with Confidence

You deployed your infrastructure, and a week later, you get a request to adjust it, based on security findings. Thus the game of ping pong with your security team begins, and they can take a lot of your time and energy. This session aims to provide you with ideas and possible solutions to minimize the number of rounds you need to play with your security team. I will share my ideas on setting up a Terraform pipeline on Github with checks and short feedback loops and deploying it into Google Cloud with confidence.

Cloud Security – It ain’t rocketscience, a variety perspective.

Is a secure cloud possible or an neverending rat-race? We know the debate around “The Cloud Is Just Someone Else's Computer.” The cloud is an technology ecosystem that provided us so much more options than time-share mainframe, multi-user unix systems or patterns as CORBA and RPC could provide us. I'll introduce you into the concept of Variety known from Requise Variety. One of the key attributes of an antifragile IT systems. This concept will help you in design decision on the risk mitigation in the cloud.
